Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies of New Hampshire and Vermont have joined forces to create Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire and Vermont (BBBSNHVT), a move aimed at expanding mentorship opportunities and reaching more young people across both states.

The merger is designed to streamline operations, reduce overhead, and direct more resources toward the organization’s core mission: creating and supporting long-lasting mentoring relationships that change lives. By consolidating into a single agency with a unified board of directors representing both states, BBBSNHVT aims to enhance efficiency while expanding its impact.

“Sharing resources in a landscape where they are already stretched beyond their limits is the right thing to do,” said Stacy W. Kramer, CEO of BBBSNHVT. “We have always shared the same mission, and now, as one agency, we can focus on serving more youth year over year with the right financial resources in place.”

With its headquarters in Stratham, New Hampshire, the newly combined agency will oversee four service locations across both states. BBBSNHVT remains committed to being a grassroots youth empowerment organization, serving children who need it most.

Kramer emphasized that while mentors are volunteers, pairing them with young people requires skilled staff to recruit, train, and guide these relationships.

According to the organization, the cost of supporting one mentor-mentee match for a year is significantly lower than the costs associated with treatment or incarceration later in life. BBBSNHVT points to proven results: mentees demonstrate higher educational aspirations, greater awareness of risky behaviors such as substance misuse, and improved pathways to overall health and well-being.

By leveraging partnerships and community support, BBBSNHVT aims to ensure that every child in New Hampshire and Vermont who needs a mentor will have access to one.
